Tekapo Springs and Tekapo Star Gazing are located in the middle of New Zealand’s South Island, halfway between Christchurch and Queenstown. Tekapo Springs is one of New Zealand’s leading tourist attractions with hot and cooler pools with Aqua Play Area, steam and sauna rooms, ice skating, snow tubing, waterslide, café and day spa. Our complex is open 364 days a year from 11am to 7pm during the week and 10am until 7pm during weekends. Our times can vary so keep an eye on our main web page.

Tekapo Stargazing offers the only guided hot pools and stargazing experience in New Zealand – a unique tour in the heart of the Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve. Tours operate up to 7 days a week, with start times varying by season to ensure the darkest skies.

Tekapo Springs is a destination not to be missed! With our prime location at the base of Mount John, we have unparalleled views of iconic Lake Tekapo and the mountain ranges beyond. We operate 364 days per year, from 11am – 7pm during the weekdays and 10am – 7pm during the weekends with a wide variety of activities providing something for everyone. HOT POOLS

3 hot pools & 2 cooler pools, one adults-only.
Pure underground spring water (not geothermal).
Temperatures: 27 – 38.5 degrees Celsius.
Hot pools depth: 1 metre.
Kids Aqua Play Area with 2 cooler pools & interactive water features.
Cooler pools depth: 1 metre and 1.8 metres.
Steam and sauna rooms with cold plunge pool.

ALTITUDE 720 CAFE

Fully licensed with no surcharge on public holidays.
Indoor dining with open fire in winter.
Outdoor dining with lake & mountain views.
Wide range of food and beverages available.

GLACIAL DAY SPA

Four treatment rooms with lake & mountain views.

Star Gazing

Tekapo Star Gazing offers the only guided hot pools and stargazing experience in New Zealand. Tours operate from the renowned facilities of Tekapo Springs, combining the stunning Aoraki Mackenzie International Dark Sky Reserve with our soul-warming hot pools. This Dark Sky Reserve is the largest of its kind in the Southern Hemisphere.

Tekapo Star Gazing tours run 7 nights a week in the months October – April, and 5 nights a week in the months May – September; start times vary by season to ensure the darkest skies. Please visit our website for current tour schedules and availability.

Soak in the Stars

90-minute guided experience combining telescope viewing with the use of a 37.5–38.5°C hot pool.
Expert guides lead you through the southern night sky using high-powered telescopes.
Unique blend of astronomy and Māori star stories and legends, shared poolside by your guide.
On overcast nights, take an immersive Virtual Reality journey through the Tekapo night sky – 360° imagery captured right here above the Dark Sky Reserve, with the same stories and science your guide would share outside.
Hot pools component proceeds in all weather conditions.
Available all year round, 7 nights a week during the months October – April, and 5 nights a week May – September.
For operational reasons, guests must be aged 10 years or older to join this tour.

Scope at the Stars

60-minute guided telescope experience. You’ll be back at your accommodation well before midnight.
Expert-guided journey through the southern sky, incorporating Māori astronomical knowledge of the stars, constellations and navigation, using high-powered telescopes.
On overcast nights, an immersive Virtual Reality journey through the Tekapo night sky – 360° imagery captured right here above the Dark Sky Reserve, with the same stories and science your guide would share outside.
Includes a complimentary daytime hot pools pass, valid on the day of the tour or the day after.
Available from October until April, 7 nights a week.
For operational reasons, guests must be aged 6 years or older to join this tour.
