Nestled on the banks of Lake Ruataniwha, Mackenzie Summer Sounds has got your New Years covered. New Zealand’s most idyllic festival will host a plethora of New Zealand’s biggest names including NZ Legends Kaylee Bell, The Mockers, Zed and Stellar* supported by great acts Jaydin Shingleton, Sisterhood and Gibson XCVIII. The thirteenth edition of the Spirited Women — All Women’s Adventure Race will be held out of the small township of Twizel in the Mackenzie District from Friday 20th – Sunday 22nd February 2026.

The festival will be held on stunning Lake Ruataniwha at the Meridian Rowing Centre, giving patrons a world-class view while they enjoy their day in the Twizel sun.

From delicious local salmon and tasty foods, boutique wines and craft beers, to lively bands with a bouncy castle & face painting for the kids. There’s something to entertain everyone at the Twizel Salmon & Wine Festival.

An unforgettable open-water swim event set on the crystal-clear, glacial-fed Lake Ruataniwha near Twizel. Choose from three swim distances tailored to all abilities: the Top Hut Sports Bar & Bürst o 500 m, Twizel/Mackenzie Four Squares 1.5 km, or the Mt Cook Alpine Salmon 3.8 km. A new Youth Category (12–15 years) joins the 500 m swim in 2025, offering young swimmers a great chance to get involved. Entry fees help fund water-based activities and water safety initiatives in the Twizel community—making your swim as meaningful as it is scenic.

34 – 170 km of incredible scenery as you loop Lake Tekapo on two wheels over a mixture of sealed road, gravel road, farm tracks, and river crossings.

A two-day multisport festival where you can take part in 1, 2 or all three challenges to become a true Hard Labourer. Events include the 20 km Canal Kayak (the only time of year paddlers can use the canals), the Dusky Mountain Bike ride (16 km or 40 km), and the Pyramid Run/Walk (10 km or 21 km), and several kids events. New for 2025 is the Youth Hard Labourer, giving young athletes a taste of becoming a Hard Labourer too. Proceeds go straight back into Twizel’s sport and community groups, making this alpine adventure as rewarding for the community as it is for participants.
